Backstory
Ancestry:
Belonging to the Keepers of the Moon, Quelenna’s ancestors belonged to a small immigrant family, one of the first ones to enter Eorzea. Quelenna’s name had been passed down for generations. Her name is one syllable longer than usual in Keeper of the Moon clans because the first Quelenna used to be a soft and caring leader that everyone looked up to years past, and she used to have a deep affinity and attunement to the goddess Menphina, the Lover. Because of this, she was appointed as the leader of their small family tribe. But every other Keeper of the Moon tribe knew who she was, even if it was in passing. Legends say that Menphina had sent her loyal ally, her loyal wolf to be by Quelenna’s side. Whenever Quelenna or her family was threatened or when Quelenna went to pray to Menphina in the night, a figure of a wolf appeared walking beside her, if only for a few moments. She was later nicknamed as “Menphina’s Hope.”Quelenna Aeir - Early Days:
Generations passed and then there is Quelenna Aeir. She was born to a Miqo’te mother in the Keepers of the Moon tribe from Gridania, and born from a Hyur father. Quelenna is a mix, but inherited more from her mother’s traits than her father’s. Quelenna’s mother decided to give her child Quelenna’s name because the last Quelenna had passed away without having children; hence, the legacy of “Menphina’s Hope” had to continue on. When Quelenna Aeir was born, people say that a wolf howl was heard in the shadows and someone even saw the eyes of a wolf in the distant bushes. The leader of the tribe deemed this to be a possible sign of Quelenna Aeir’s affinity to Menphina. Aeir was Quelenna’s father’s last name. Quelenna’s mother loved him so much that she wanted to preserve the father’s name in any way she could, even if the Keepers of the Moon usually aren’t raised with their fathers and it’s even looked down upon if the fathers stick around for too long anyways in a matriarchal tribe. Sadly, Quelenna’s father had passed away in the battle of the Seventh Umbral Calamity (Dalamud), giving his life away for Eorzea. After the valiant battle, Quelenna’s desire to serve Eorzea in her own way ignited. She had trained since very little with the bow and arrow, following in her father’s footsteps. But she always wanted to learn baking and cooking to feed the hungry or serve soldiers going to battles.Skills in the Culinary & Medicinal Arts
So she started learning more cooking and baking from her mother. She later went around Eorzea seeking to learn more culinary recipes from different places. At one point, she stumbled upon a botanist that was collecting different types of herbs to turn into a medicinal salve. This inspired her to learn more about medicinal herbs and how to use them to cure simple inner and outer wounds.The Orphanage & Performing
Because Quelenna was good at medicinal herbs, she volunteered at an Orphanage in Gridania called “The Oak Atrium.” She was able to tend to sick kids and cook when she was able to. She was also naturally talented at performing and acting out stories for the kids, a talent she didn’t know she had. Because of this newfound talent, you could sometimes see Quelenna practicing by reading and acting out a story in her spare time.It is said she still wanders around for a culinary adventure or simply chatting with new people as she loves to help anyone who might be hungry, wounded, or in need.
